Once again Karwar culinary delight visiting Mumbai from 6th Nov at Kohinoor Continental "Karwari Food Festival" to woo foodies

MUMBAI, 5th NOVEMBER, 2019 (TGN): The Solitaire restaurant at hotel Kohinoor Continental, based in Andheri, Mumbai is offering Mumbaikars a delicious and authentic cuisine of Karwar prepared by the Karwari Master Chef itself with its Karwari Food Festival during 6thNov to 17th Nov.

In this fest, every day more than 40 items in the menu are served and each day of the fest is bringing in new Karwari menus to the main course. The theme for the fest is beautiful, scenic Karwar beaches where guests can enjoy the relishing food sitting on the beach side all surrounded with sand, boats and unfathomable sea. Even the servers are dressed in traditional Karwari wear to give it a perfect touch. Apart from this, manyrenowned celebrities are visiting the food fest making it more happening to the guests. 

Karwar being located at the beautiful coastal town on Karnataka and Goa border, the staple food of this region is rice & fish, but the vegetarian curries (Kari & Upkari) are absolute worth a try. Karwari cuisine, like the land itself, has many spicy flavours and tastes with its natural surroundings to add the original homely flavour to the delicacies. Karwari food is simple but most, though not all, of it is chili hot, spicy, and pungent. Items made from rice, fish, and coconuts abound in every meal in Karwar. Though Karwari food culture has always retained its own identity, the authentic one has hardly reached the commercial front. Hence The Solitaire restaurant is inviting all the food lovers across Mumbai to unfold the traditional taste of Karwar through this food fest.

The menu will have different type food items on the list which offers wide range of starters, main course and desserts. In main course includes Visvan Ambat (King Fish Curry), Mori Sukhe (Shark Curry), Sugata che Sukhe (Crab and prawn semi fry), Karwari Checken Masal(Green Chicken), Tisrya Amti (Clam curry with drumstick and raw mango) and many more. In dessert you can enjoy with Sukrunde (Gram flour and Jaggery dumpling), Kelya Mulka(banana flitter), Gadbad Ice Cream and other delicious dishes. 

The menu finalized for the festival is handpicked by our Karwari Master Chef – Mrs. Madhavi Kamat & she has taken utmost care to get the ethnic flavors on your plate. There are equal amount of Veg. & Non-Veg. presentation. Sea food is dominatingly present in the spread.

Home maker turns Master Chef Journey Mrs. Kamat belongs to Karwar. And just like any other lady in Karwar, she loves cooking Karwari dishes. After marriage she moved to Mumbai. Her husband works in hotel industry hence she could explore variety of food in Mumbai. However, she always missed that authentic Karwari taste in Mumbai, except her own kitchen. Mrs. Kamat loves to cook and serve with love to people. She used to invite many people to taste Karwari cuisine. Due to this hobby of hers, an idea to start Karwari food fest at hotel Kohinoor Continental. When there is a will, there is a way!  Of course, Mrs. Kamat had to be Master chef for this food fest.
