Mumbai, 31 August 2023 (TGN): Celebrating the ‘Meri Maati – Mera Desh’ initiative of the Government of India during the ‘Amrit Kal’ observing the 75 years of India’s Independence, the farmers, employees and every stakeholder of KisanKonnect, India’s first Digital Farmers’ Market, took a pledge of ‘Love Your Soil’ and vowed to nurture the soil by using re-generative agriculture practices to produce fresh and nutritious food for building healthy societies.
KisanKonnect observed this initiative across all the farms of its vast base of 5,000 farmers in Ahmednagar and Pune districts. As the initiative will continue till 30th August, the farmers have decided to spread the message of ‘Love for Soil’ amongst everyone including the vegetable buyers. The farmers also expressed their commitment as ‘Panchpran’ in providing fresh farm produce to people by ensuring transparency through traceability, fair prices, quality assurance, no food loss and nourishment of soil by re-generative farming.
As part of the initiative, the farmers paid tribute to soil with ‘Vasudha Vandan’ (Tribute to the Mother Earth) with a resolve to use the best regenerative soil techniques for maximum farm productivity and the best crop health in order to protect the health and environment through well – nourished vegetables and fruits. The farmers were given the oath to make the country self-reliant by producing fresh food for healthy India.
Mr Nidhi Nirmal, Business Head, KisanKonnect said, “We have been celebrating the Prime Minister’s visionary ‘Meri Maati – Mera Desh’ Abhiyan in a unique way. We are nurturing the thought of ‘Love for Soil’ among our farmers and buyers; so that they understand the importance of healthy soil for a healthy being. Like our warriors and soldiers, we are paying a tribute to our farmer heroes who relentlessly work in their farms to give undisrupted food supplies to us. In order to create a self – reliant nation, as envisaged in the initiative, we are contributing by nourishing the soil by adopting regenerative farming and sustainable practices; so that we can have nutritious, fresh, hygienic and safe food supplies.”
KisanKonnect has undertaken ‘Responsible Agriculture Practices’ by taking care of aspects like soil improvement, using bio-fertilizers in place of chemicals and providing farmers with scientific Agronomy inputs for their crops. It has opened its own Agri Clinics to educate the member farmers about better soil management, improved crop yields and tackling the challenges of climate change, which in turn, is ensuring quality crops with better price realisations. Recently, an ace actress, a fitness icon and entrepreneur Ms Shilpa Shetty-Kundra invested in KisanKonnect.Ends
